Skins and names
What bots look like and what they're called.
Real skins
A bot wears the skin of the Minecraft account that has its name. You can also borrow another account's skin:
/pvpbot spawn Marco
/pvpbot spawn Marco Notch
In the first case Marco wears the "Marco" account's skin, if it exists. In the second he wears Notch's skin but is still called Marco. Every bot keeps its skin across restarts.
If SkinsRestorer is installed, PvpBot also saves the skin in its storage, so it isn't overwritten when the bot joins.
Random skins
Almost every bot name is made up and has no skin, so without this option they'd all be Steve and Alex. With
skins.random bots borrow a skin from a pool.
| Value | Who gets a random skin |
|---|---|
missing (default) | Bots whose name has no skin: generated names, name tables, made-up names. A bot named after a real account keeps its own. |
always | Every bot, whatever its name. |
off | Nobody: default skins. |
skins:
random: missing
built-in-pool: true
pool: []
- Built-in pool (
built-in-pool): a few hundred ordinary players' accounts. Names still on a default skin are skipped, and a skin two accounts share is used once. - Your additions (
pool): a list of account names whose skins you want bots in. - No repeats: a batch of bots goes through every skin before any repeats.
- First start: the skins are fetched in the background, gently, to stay under Mojang's rate limit
(a minute or two; the console says how many came through). After that they're kept in
skin-cache.ymland later starts have them at once.
Names
Generated names
/pvpbot spawn and /pvpbot spawn <count> generate unique random names.
Name tables
For a themed group (a clan's members, an event's characters) write the lists in config.yml:
name-tables:
pirates:
- Blackbeard
- Morgan
- Kidd
- Drake
and use them like this:
/pvpbot spawn names:pirates 4
/pvpbot spawn names:pirates 4 Notch
- Names are picked at random from the table, never twice in the same command.
- Names already used by a bot or an online player are skipped.
- If the table runs out, it spawns as many as it can and tells you.
- With an account name at the end, the whole batch wears that account's skin.
Names can be 16 characters at most.
No join messages
Bots appear without a "X joined the game" message, so a squad of twenty doesn't flood the chat.
